Highlight of the day

Next time you fly, you should allow for which side has the sun rise or setting. Melbourne to Sydney had a window seat (Erik) but on the west side so we missed the sun rise. Sydney to Osaka we were in the middle row (must try harder next time when the Jetstar web site runs slow). We glimised a magnificant orange glow across the horizon but that was it.

Letter from Dindy

Hi Taves, we received a letter from Dindy today that I thought you might like to know about:
"Dear All,
Greatly to my surprise I find I've been named as a finalist in the Australian Classical Music Awards for my CD Up the Creek! I have to go to Sydney on Monday August 7 for the presentation night, which will be broadcast live from 7-10:30pm on ABC Classic FM (109.5). We have to be there by 6pm - I hope there will be some sustenance along the way!
I'll be in Hans Music in Main Street Croydon on Friday August 4 from 10:30am - if any of you could drop by, I'd love to see you!
Octavia, I'd still love to have that session of watching the old movies with you - can you let me know some times when you might be available? I really want to do this!
Much love to all Dindy"

I thought I would write back to pass on our congratulations and mention you were away WWOOFING. Did you want me to mention anything about watching the old movies?

I hope you are having a good time, its a shame the Youth hostels much up the bookings so much. I am interested to see your photos of the castle and from the Daintree tour.

LibraryThing - Personal Book list and more

Hi Taves,

Erik has www.flickr.com, so I have found the same thing for books, www.librarything.com. I have created myself an account and added one of your books (that I am reading), I hope you don't mind. I will be finished this weekend. I thought you would enjoy this.

I posted your seed catalog today (Friday), so you should get it Tuesday I guess.

Erik is not home yet, Trudi said he went out to the Nova with people for school. This is good. Trudi and I have booked up a movie and dinner with Linda and Mike tomorrow night. We are both looking forward to it.

I hope you have a lovely time with Ryan.

I went for a 73km bike ride yesterday, Mordialloc to Croydon. I dropped in at Grandmas on the way and gave her your address. Bill was up and walking about and seem fine. He could have been a lot worse.
He fell from on a ladder while leaning over the roof of the bus, he caught his chin on a burr and had four stiches for a cut. He also bruised his heal but no broken bones.
The ride was good, along bike paths etc, but there was a strong/cold headwind for a lot of the way, so I could have chosen a better day for it. At lease there was no rain.
Not long until Ryan comes, are you WOOFing at somewhere different before he arrives?
Susant visited Erik yesterday and uploaded photos to Flickr.

Something happened yesterday morning

Hi Taves,

Yesterday morning, Trudi and Erik drove past this spot in W. road opposite Barb, everything looked normal. Then when I rode past 30 minutes later, I saw this. There was no car or truck or people anywhere to be seen.

Hi Taves,
This is what happened as a result.

Seed Potatoes are coming and stuff

Hi Taves,

I rang Bunnings this weekend, they said they don't have any seed potatoes at the moment but they are due to be delivered in a few weeks. Apparently the season for them is coming up, so that is good timing.

I did not prepare the garden this weekend but I did rake leaves around the herb garden, hopefully for the last time this year, the trees have finally dropped all their leaves. I will do around you balcony next week end.

Nanny is in Darwin and enjoying it and also Materanka, but not where we stayed because of Donny.

Erik is back at school tomorrow and spent the afternoon at Box Hill with friends, Maddie, Kelly and Sophie. He had a good time. They went to a pick you own hot pot shop where the lady spoke no English! Erik has finally had a better holiday then all his friends, he loved the holiday with you and raved about the healthy food you bought and made. Thanks.

Mum and I went to Knox and saw 10 canoes, it was a pleasant simple story. It was all filmed in Armen Land.

I am down to one birthday present then, I better think of others then!

Have you had a look at my Flickr site recently? I have scanned one old picture and was thinking of doing more, I was thinking of putting up the silly easter photos and explaining the story behind it. One has you with a slightly silly face, mostly laughing/smiling. Would you mind if I did?

I am off to see the new Superman movie tomorrow night with people from work, it is a free movie because of the work we have been doing with SMS movie information. It is the premier of a Sensis ad.

I also went out on Friday night with people from work as a sort of end-of-financial year celebration. This reminds me, you will need to send me your tax information, like your interest earned for the last 12 months. I think that is all, I will email if there is anything else.

I am glad you are helping Meridth with her garden, I think Meridth does not get much support. Could you send some photos of your work?

Re: Birthday present idea

OK, I have added your idea to my list. It currently stands as follows:
  • Micallef DVD
  • Piano tuned
  • Mulberry Tree
  • Regency World Book

Are all these still OK?

I left you a comment to your previous blog entry, so I hadn't ignored your post. :-)

Erik just made 4 litres of Coffee Liqueur (to be left for 2 weeks) and 1 litre of Orange Whiskey (to be left for 4 weeks). Both taste pretty good straight away.

Love you Taves, I hope you get a nice WOOFing place soon, make sure you check it out.

Gavin

PS I just transferred you the money.

I saw a really good DVD today

Hi Taves & Erik,
It sounds like you are feeling better today, thats good, Trudi and I were worried that you were in for a terrible time. Hopefully you found something other people on drugs to look at.

Thanks for the notes, in preparation for doing this garden, I watched a wonderfull DVD today.

I can see where a lot of your ideas come from, the new garden is amazing. Perhaps we can put olives along some fences, but I think we have too many shade trees.

Thanks again.
Love Gavin & Trudi.

Live Life on the Run

Hi Taves & Erik,

There is going to be advertising for the SMS product I have been testing recently. I received the following email today:

Does your mum have trouble getting hold of you at home?

Do you feel like you’re out more than you’re in?

If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, you’re our target for the Sensis SMS campaign, going to market this week. So save 191 SMS - that’s 191 767 - into your mobile right now!

With 191 SMS you can get weather reports, movie times, snow and surf reports SMSed straight to your mobile at 55c per request.

Let 191 SMS come to your rescue when you don’t know whether to wear your thermals under your clothes to work, if you want to know where that movie’s showing tonight, if it’s worth heading up to the snow this weekend, and more. To get started go to www.livelifeontherun.com.au
